A frosty morning

Well it's been ages and ages since I posted anything to this blog.....life seems so ho hum alot of the time.  We just do the same things over and over again.  Work, cook, clean, shop for groceries day in and day out so when anything out the norm happens it is often quite exciting and energizing.....

I woke up early on Sunday morning and looked out to what was going to be a gorgeous, sunny day.  The temp was -2C and there was frost everywhere.  The fields in the distance were immersed in a ethereal mist.  The light was so beautiful I just had to get out there and get some pictures.......

Frosty Gazing ball..

Poor birdies, how will they take a bath?

Bright red cotoneaster berries.

 Apple tree bare of leaves.

Looking out over farmers fields through the apple tree.

Beautiful red berries....

Just had to share these with you.  The light was so magical.

my new baby!

Am I not adorable??? My name is Wyatt and I'm only eight weeks old.

It was really cold when I first arrived at my new home so my "mom" made me a nice warm coat out of one of my "dad's" old sweater sleeves.

Here I am posing sweetly for a picture for the front of my families Christmas card.  Mom said I did a really good job of modelling....

Here I am at five months old.  You can see how my ears are almost standing up now.  Soon they'll stand right up just like my big brother Winston's.

Love and licks... Wyatt

...saturday night dinner for two

It was a cold and rainy day on Saturday so I decided to set a cozy table for 2 in the kitchen.

I like the different textures of the wicker against the runner that my mom made for me.

I thought the rooster and the birdcage went kind of well together.  I think the feather accents add to the birdy theme.

Plates are from Pier 1 Imports.

Mercury glass votives from the Dollar store.

Goblets are from Farmhouse furniture.

Piggy napkin rings I've had for ages and ages....

A view of my island after Christmas has gone away....

a bright spot in a rainy day

It's done nothing but rain here in southwestern BC for what seems like days on end.  I thought posting a few reminders of spring might help lift my spirits......
Some bright spots on my back patio.

An American Goldfinch at one of our feeders.  Isn't he just the most beautiful little spot of yellow.  I would certainly be attracted to him if I was a goldfinch girl.....

A California lilac looking it's best...

One of my favorite flowers is the peony.  They make wonderful cut flowers for tablescapes.

Foxgloves are so English country garden, don't you think?

I feel so blessed to live an area where plants thrive and we don't have droughts.  I shouldn't really complain about the rain so much as that's what makes the flowers so lovely.

Thanks for joining me today. Babs

My first tablescape

This is my first tablescape Thursday.  It snowed the night before these were taken.  This is a little vignette outside my front door.  I was hosting a birthday brunch for a friend last Sunday and  set my table up with my Grandmothers Blue Willow china.  I realized a few things could have been improved on after I uploaded these photos so please excuse the amateuristic photos.

Table is set for six with Blue Willow china and my blue Pier One Imports chargers.

I collected a few more pieces of silver mercury glass over the Christmas season.  I had a few paperwhite blooms that were still looking fresh when I tossed the rest of them so I put them in a vase.

I made the place cards on the computer and the holders are actually corn cob holders.  Sorry I realize I should have taken more closeups.

After uploading I realized a few things.  I should have added my wine and water glasses for a more finished look and some better close up shots would have been nice.

Thanks for viewing my first tablescape. Barkie

my take on coffee filter wreath & tree

My sister (pictured) and  I have a craft night every year before Christmas. We had a wonderful weekend together and a great time creating these. Sorry, no finished picture of the trees.

Here is my finished wreath. I'm going to change it up for Valentines day!
